The Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operation (AECO) industry is experiencing a paradigm shift driven by digital transformation. Central to this shift is the adoption of open standards, which ensure interoperability, transparency, and collaboration across all phases of a project’s lifecycle. While open standards, such as those championed by the openBIM movement, have gained significant traction in the AEC industry, their adoption in the operation and facility management phases of buildings remains underutilized.

OpenFM aims to explore why deploying open standards in the operation and facility management stage is critical for maximizing the value of assets, enabling seamless collaboration, and ensuring the long-term success of the AECO projects.
